Basic knowledge of PET bottle blowing process ①
Time: Feb 03,2026
PET bottles are plastic containers made from PET plastic material through one-step or two-step processing. PET plastic is characterized by its light weight, high transparency, and resistance to impact and shattering.
1.Understand the structure
The bottle blank is an injection molded item. As an intermediate semi-finished product for the subsequent two-way stretching and blow molding process, the bottleneck of the bottle blank has been formed during the injection molding stage. Its size will not change during heating and stretching/blowing. The design of the size, weight and wall thickness of the bottle blank is a factor that we need to pay close attention to when blowing bottles.

2. PET Bottle Molding
One-step method
The process of completing the injection, drawing and blowing operations within one machine is called the one-step method. This method involves performing the drawing action after the bottle blank has been injection-molded and cooled. Its main advantages are energy saving, high productivity, no human intervention, and reduced pollution.
Two-step method
The two-step method separates injection and blow molding. It is carried out separately on two machines and is also known as the injection-blowing process. The first step uses an injection molding machine to inject the bottle blank. The second step heats the room-temperature bottle blank and then blows it to form a bottle. The advantage of the two-step method is that it allows for the molding of bottle blanks using injection molding. This can reduce investment (human resources and equipment). The volume of the bottle blank is much smaller than that of the bottle, making it convenient for transportation and storage. Bottle blanks produced during off-peak seasons can be blown into bottles during peak seasons.
